FAQ

  • Is San Antonio Western Shooting (SAWS) open every day?
  • No. SAWS is a part-time business operated by retirees. SAWS sessions are by appointment only, and are dependent upon range and staff availability. Range is not available on a regular basis on weekends. Contact us for options.

  • What days of the week are available for SAWS sessions?
  • Clubs book the First four Saturdays of the month. We are closed Sundays. SAWS shares the range with other organizations on a first-come, first-served basis. Range is not available on a regular basis on weekends. Contact us for options.

  • How far in advance should someone make a reservation request?
  • SAWS recommends that reservation requests be made at least thirty (30) days in advance.

  • How are reservations confirmed?
  • SAWS will confirm a reservation when payment is received.

  • How many people can be in a group at SAWS?
  • SAWS prefers to keep sessions small. Four (4) to six (6) people is ideal. Groups of eight is our normal maximum.

  • Can children participate in Western Shooting?
  • Children under the age of eleven (11) years may not participate as shooters. Any person under the age of eighteen (18) must have a parent or legal guardian present. Legal guardians must provide proof of Guardianship.

  • Is prior experience with firearms required?
  • No.

  • What is the proper attire?
  • Please dress for the weather. Shooters are engaging in an outdoor activity on uneven ground. Closed-toe shoes are required. V-neck or low-cut blouses invite hot cartridge cases to lodge where they are least welcome.
